Long Blooming Pollinator Favorite
This Gaura flaunts crisp green and cream foliage. Pure white flowers with a blush of pink on the spurs sway on wiry stems with the slightest breeze. Creamy foliage edges mature to buttery yellow. Variegation contributes both texture and contrast. It will draw eyes not only to the variegated plant, but the rest of the garden as well. The airy texture of Gaura Silver Fountain provides a stunning accent in a mixed perennial border. A native to southern United States, it will withstand heat and drought once established.
Gaura General Information
Gaura are vase-shaped plants that bloom from late spring until fall. Will thrive in high heat and humidity areas. Will need winter protection in far northern states. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.
Gaura Plant Care
Very tolerant of heat and drought. Needs good winter drainage. Airy habit responds to cutting back by one half when 12-15 inches tall to control height. Deep tap root dislikes transplanting. Will not self-sow. Prune Gaura in spring to improve overwintering.
